What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Supervisor position at Kinder Morgan?
Supervise pipeline personnel in the operations, maintenance and damage prevention of CO2 and Crude oil pipelines in West Texas. The assets include CO2 pipelines, Crude Oil pipelines and Crude Oil tanks.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Ensure that facilities are maintained and operated according to DOT part 195.
- Ensure that all equipment inspections are up to date and properly documented.
- Take a leadership role in the planning and execution of emergency response drills.
- Participate in Regulatory agency audits.
- Develop budget requests for maintenance and improvement projects.
- Ensure that operation and budget targets are met.
- Respond to any asset failure and facilitate repair, investigate causes and decide if improvements are needed.
- Ensure that one call tickets are properly handled using the Kinder Morgan One Call system.
- Responsible for analyzing the safety hazards involved in all tasks performed by direct reports.
- Must play an active role in the KMCO2 Environmental, Health & Safety programs and ensure adherence to all safety guidelines.
- Involved in the Design and Construction of new pipeline and facility projects.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Education:
- Two year technical or management degree or equivalent relevant industry experience is required.
Experience / Specific Knowledge:
- Must have a minimum of two years' experience in the operations and/or maintenance of PHMSA regulated pipelines.
- Must be knowledgeable in DOT part 195 and have experience maintaining pipelines in conformance with regulations.
- A satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company and current, valid State driver’s license are required
- Must have experience at participating in pipeline audits performed by regulatory inspectors.

- Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Project and Outlook.
- Well-balanced interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communications skills are required.
- Attention to detail.
- Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential.
- Must be a problem solver with the ability to find solutions.
- Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision and/or direction.
- Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment and consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanor/attitude with co-workers, clients, customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
Physical demands:
- Employee must be physically capable of completing and satisfying all training requirements as stipulated by local, state or federal agencies and/or Company Policy.
Working Conditions:
- Must be available 24 hour/7 day per week basis for emergency response and supervision.
- Position subject to 24 hour call-out, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Overtime required and extended work hours in cases of emergencies.
- Travel required
Supervisory responsibility:
- Direct reports include Pipeline Operators and Technicians.
