What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pipeline Operator position at Kinder Morgan?

Primary Purpose:

* Perform and coordinate work group activities including patrolling, locating, construction inspection, and excavation inspection of Company gas/liquids pipelines, appurtenances, compressor stations, process plants and other related facilities.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

*Surveillance and maintenance of facilities

*Locate and mark facilities per Company Damage Prevention Program and One-Call procedures prior to and during encroachments and excavation.

*Coordinate local Damage Prevention activities.

*Provide oversight and inspection to ensure asset protection and compliance with Company procedures of excavation activities near pipeline facilities.

*Represent the Company during contacts with landowner/tenants, public officials/emergency officials and at local meetings. (One Call, Pipeline Groups, Soil Conservation, USFS, etc.)

*Train and oversee company and third party personnel as required (e.g., personnel in progression, transport drivers, contractors, visitors)

*Follow all EHS procedures and practices

*Be able to identify safety hazards

*Maintain good standing with all required training

*Participate in pipeline public awareness programs and emergency drills

*Respond to pipeline emergencies such as spills, outages, power failures, etc.

*Launch and receive pipeline scraper pigs

*Maintain, repair, and operate valves and pumps

*Assist with regulatory audits

*Regular and predictable attendance.

*Other duties as assigned.



Minimum requirements:

Education:

* High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience / specific knowledge:

* Must have completed at least one (1) year at Pipeline Operator 1 or industry equivalent

Certifications, licenses, registrations:

* Maintain a satisfactory driving record as determined by the company and a current, valid State driver's license

* Subject to random drug testing

* Must pass applicable OQ tasks as required

Competencies, skills, and abilities:

* Proficient with assigned core computer programs

* Follow work procedures independently on less routine tasks or more complex equipment/processes

* Ability to work from written or verbal instructions

* Ability to properly prioritize tasks

* Identify problems

* Have the ability to train others

* Ability to speak and understand English.

* Ability to work with others, takes direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, and follow work rules.

Physical demands:

* Driving in remote & congested areas

* Working outside in extreme weather

* Frequently lift and carry, unassisted, items weighing up to 50 pounds

* Walking, climbing, standing, and sitting

* Some inside work for training, working on computer

Working conditions:

* Shift work, alternating days, nights, holidays, weekends

* Overtime required

* Emergency response

* Callouts

* On-call
