What are the responsibilities and job description for the Distirct Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position at King Philip Regional School District?
Will be required to accompany a student on a van to transport student to and from school and 1:1 in school
POSITION PURPOSE:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse - LPN, you will care for various sick/injured children according to health guidelines in the school health room under the direction of a school-certified RN. In addition, this position may require providing 1:1 assistance on a van/bus with a student to and from their school, monitoring the student's healthcare, and other medical concerns.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION Other duties may be assigned.
-Respond to commonly seen medical conditions in a school: Headaches, cuts/scrapes, fevers, vomiting/diarrhea, respiratory illnesses, allergies, conjunctivitis, rashes, head lice
-Application of splints, bandages, cast care, warm/cool compresses
-Assessment of lung sounds, heart sounds, neurological, gastrointestinal, signs of abuse/neglect, various injuries
-Vital measurements: respirations, heart rate, temperature (P.O., tympanic, and axillary routes),
-Accompany a child to and from school, providing all medical care outlined in the established Individual Health Care Plan.
-Accompany child on outings or bus rides as required
-Seizure precautions and crisis management
-Able to identify adverse reactions/negative changes in a child’s assessment and can appropriately report these changes.
-Identifies and appropriately reports emergent medical situations.
-Assess and document patient conditions and report changes as needed.
-Assist with state mandate screenings - height, weight, vision, hearing, and SBIRT.
