JOB SUMMARY

Assists the technologist in the assigned area of the laboratory, by completing non-technical tasks, such as pouring off of specimens for analysis, disposal of old specimens, putting away stock, and other duties that may be needed.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
-
Responsible for specimen preparation, identification of specimen and request, separation of samples, cells from plasma, and work organization
-
Prepare samples for mail out to reference laboratories
-
Assist technologists in daily work where and when possible
-
Answers telephone promptly and professionally
-
Participates in laboratory process improvement activities
-
Counts, rotates and puts away stock.
-
Removes bio-hazard waste boxes from the department, to the correct area for pick up and disposal.
-
Assists in clerical area when needed.
