King & Spalding, a leading global law firm, seeks a Business Development (BD) Coordinator to provide support related to marketing materials, pitches and RFPs, directory and award submissions, events, competitive intelligence research, marketing operations, and other business development and marketing activities as required for the Trial & Global Disputes (“TRIAL”) practice group. The group has more than 550 lawyers worldwide, with experience across a range of substantive areas. The BD Coordinator will work closely with Managers and Senior Managers of Marketing and BD to support these strategic initiatives across the TRIAL practice.

The ideal candidate is a professional, self-starting, driven, strong project manager with attention to detail, who is forward thinking, collaborative and energetic. The candidate will bring at least two years’ experience in a comparable role, ideally at a law firm. We also are open to considering candidates with relevant professional services backgrounds who are passionate about building a marketing and business development career in a law firm.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Marketing and Business Development Coordinator will have the following responsibilities: 

  • Support TRIAL Marketing and BD team on strategic client business planning and targeting efforts spanning several practice groups; assist with cross-selling and identifying business trends and opportunities to support the business.
  • Develop a deep understanding of firm specialty areas and industry group goals and clients and apply understanding of plans to support cross-selling initiatives and draft compelling content.
  • Oversee final production of deliverables to meet deadlines; maintain pitch/RFP files, log in pitch tracking system and proactively obtain outcomes.
  • Work with the events team to coordinate and provide support for King & Spalding hosted client, internal, and external events including meetings, seminars, receptions, and dinners; coordinate and develop invitations and other event/content materials with the branding and marketing technology teams, as well as track and assisting with follow-up activities.
  • Coordinate with communications team and BD managers to compile information and draft submissions related to legal directories and awards, such as Chambers, Legal 500and Law360.
  • Coordinate internal and external communications, including client alerts, newsletters, press releases and ads.
  • Provide support and coordinate all activities involved with relevant sponsorships such as processing payments, fulfilling sponsorship benefits including ads and logos, and promoting K&S lawyer participation.
  • Conduct research on a variety of topics including prospective and current clients, competitors and industry/market trends to aid in the development of client teams, pitches, RFP responses, and other internal and external marketing initiatives.
  • Create dynamic materials in PPT and Word for meetings, pitches, and RFPs under the direction of BD managers and lawyers. Compile and maintain marketing materials including PowerPoint presentations, fact sheets, content for the website, and other custom materials, and work with Branding and Design to apply brand standards and firm templates to projects.
  • Routinely gather and centralize experience lists for use in pitches, proposals, submissions and other materials, including regularly updating key data such as trial wins and case trackers for experience database.
  • Assist with lateral onboarding activities, including drafting bios and tracking client targeting outreach and efforts.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

Successful candidates are forward thinking, positive, energetic and detail oriented. Candidates must have the ability to work well with various stakeholders within the firm, have proven project management skills in a fast-paced environment and have great judgment and communication skills. Knowledge of marketing and bd-related activities is required. Requirements:

  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills—both verbal and in writing, have excellent attention to detail, the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, work well under pressure, ability to manage time-sensitive deadlines across practices and incorporate feedback into your performance.
  • Strong capabilities in Microsoft Office and proficiency with client/contact relationship management databases, such as Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Excellent editing and proofreading skills.
  • A demonstrated capacity to self-start and work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while interacting credibly and diplomatically with all levels in an organization, and be curious, resourceful, and proactive.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 2 years of marketing and/or business development experience preferred.
  • Law firm and/or professional service experience is preferred.

New York: full-time annualized salary range $80,000 - $85,000. The salary offer will be contingent upon various factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, internal equity, market data, job location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
