JOB SUMMARY

The athletic trainer will be able to demonstrate an ability to perform the following functions regarding athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, treatment, (including first aide) and reconditioning as set forth by the NATA Board Certification. The athletic trainer will carry out all prescribed treatments and recommendations by the team/program/eventphysician. The athletic trainer will cover assigned pre-season physicals, sports games or matches, and related events under the supervision of the program manager.

Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
Demonstrates proper taping, strapping, bracing, and fitting of athletic equipment.
Must demonstrate knowledge of the principals of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the athlete's status and interpret the appropriate information.
Possesses clinical comfort and demonstrate comfort in the taking of vital signs, chief complaints and other services standard to that of a physician extender in the clinical setting.
Assists the other staff in community event coverage as deemed necessary by the primary physician, promotes wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.
Obtains, verifies, and records health history of patients. Gathers pertinent health data through physical assessments.
Provides basic patient care as ordered, assists other health care professionals in performing exams, diagnostic procedures and treatments and adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies.
Documents assessments, interventions, patient/family responses, medication prescribed, and test results in medical records

Minimum requirement:

Bachelor's Degree in health related field
Maintains Certification as an Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification
Maintains active Athletic Trainer's License in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and State of Ohio

One year experience
Master's Degree

Constantly works near moving mechanical parts
Constantly exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection.
Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals
Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
