JOB SUMMARY
    Under the general supervision of the Director of Neurodiagnostic Laboratory, the EEG Tech is responsible for administration of all modalities of testing in accordance with physician orders including EEG, routine, portable, ambulatory, video and intra-operative; Evoked Potentials, routine and intra-operative; Nerve Conduction Studies, Quantitative Sensory Testing, Electronystaginogram, and Nerve Integrity Monitoring.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties: Maintains a record of testing procedures and is involved with related billing procedures; Maintains and stores equipment and hazardous materials in accordance with state and Medical Center safety regulations; Under the supervision of the department supervisor plans and implements continuing education and training for department personnel; Advises counsels and assists supervisory personnel and/or technical staff as needed. Prepares and maintains necessary statistical data, reports, directories, memorands, etc., as required; Evaluates new equipment and techniques; Directs the preventative maintenance and repair of equipment; Maintains appropriate inventory of all necessary equipment and supplies; Keeps current regarding advances in neurodiagnostic testing by attending seminars and meetings relative to job function; On an ongoing basis, gathers information for QA reports and identifies and reports problem prone areas; cooperates with management and staff to bring problem prone areas within set guidelines of acceptable standards. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of EEG's (routine, portable, ambulatory, and video); Completes patient file by recording an accurate and detailed patient history; Prepares tests for physician by making sure all pertinent information is attached: detailed history, medications and accurate figures; Maintains department clinical file folders; Orders adequate quantity of supplies to meet routine and emergency needs; Files patient reports and reference cards as necessary; Makes daily log documentation and notations. Retrieves old test results for reference when necessary; Demonstrates the ability to effectively assess patient condition before and during testing procedure and appropriately respond and maintain basic life support measures in emergency situations for patients from neonates to geriatrics. Confers when necessary with surgeon and/or neurologist to competently perform with intra-operative monitoring, including complete understanding of surgeon's direction and ability to keep surgeon abreast of any changes seen during monitoring, directly under supervision of lab supervisor until competent to perform task independently. Must have ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient's needs; Must have knowledge of the growth and development of the patient population from neonates to and including geriatric patients; Ensures the proper management and administration of neurodiagnostic testing procedures in accordance to guidelines set forth by ASET (American Society of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists); Demonstrates thorough knowledge of EEG's (routine, portable, ambulatory, and video), SSEP's, BAER's, VER's, NCV's and Intra-operative monitoring and allied recording equipment and the proper technique for administering appropriate testing.
EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    Minimum requirement:
      High School Diploma or GED Achieve and Maintain AHA Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
    Preferred qualifications:
      Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school Broad knowledge of neurodiagnostic testing with ability to independently performs intra-operative monitoring. ABRET Registry
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
    Constantly works near moving mechanical parts Occasionally exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection. Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    Occasionally required to maintain in a stationary position (standing or sitting). Frequently required to walk and move about. Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment. Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices. Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds. Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds. Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds. Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Employment Type: Full Time Shift: Days Hours: Monday - Friday. Weekend Call with rotating schedule
