Description

KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) is a national network of free, open enrollment, college preparatory schools dedicated to preparing students in underserved communities for success in college and in life. There are 280 KIPP schools in 21 states and the District of Columbia serving more than 175,000 scholars and alumni. KIPP Metro Atlanta currently operates eleven KIPP schools including five primary schools, five middle schools, and one high school, as well as KIPP Forward which supports students on their journey “to and through” college. The Support Team at KIPP Atlanta Schools provides strategic, financial and operational support and oversight to all KIPP  Atlanta schools and drives initiatives designed to strengthen the schools’ academic programming and outcomes.

As a KIPP Atlanta Teacher, your core responsibilities include:

Curriculum Development and Instruction

  • Adapt and execute a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum
  • Develop academically rigorous lessons, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments
  • Use data to inform instructional decisions
  • Provide students with daily feedback on performance and plan for individual learning needs
  • Differentiate instruction to ensure that all students are progressing
  • In conjunction with Special Education Teachers, work to ensure that all IEPs and student needs are met both within and outside of the classroom

 Help Build a Positive School and Classroom Culture

  • Embody and maintain school’s values, policies, and culture
  • Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers, staff, and community members
  • Establish and maintain strong communication with all families and share progress
  • Show up for critical school events, including staff meetings, open houses, parent-teacher conferences, and more
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
  • Have fun and spread joy!

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Compensation for this role is between $60,000 - $100,000  The starting pay will depend on various factors that may include but are not limited to professional experience, education, training, and certifications.  

KIPP Atlanta Schools offers a competitive benefits package that includes:

  • 8 days of Paid Time Off, in addition to identified holidays and regular school breaks including Fall Break, Thanksgiving Break, Mid-Winter Break and Spring Break.

Qualifications


  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in secondary instruction and classroom management.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates strong project and time management capabilities.
  • Ability to receive and implement feedback effectively.
  • Prior experience working with scholars and families from low-income communities, ideally as a middle or lower high school instructor, with measurable outcomes.
  • Committed to professional development through training opportunities, involvement in organizations supporting college access, and staying informed about college access literature.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Candidates with experience in Infinite Campus, YouScience, Overgrad, and Salesforce are preferred.
  • Dedicated to the mission of preparing educationally underserved children for college, career, and beyond.
