Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Optometric Technician with front desk responsibilities. This is a dual role that requires excellent clinical skills, strong communication abilities, and a passion for providing exceptional patient care. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our clinic, from assisting patients in the exam room to managing patient flow at the front desk.

Responsibilities (Optometric Technician):

  • Perform pre-testing procedures, including:
  • Visual acuity testing
  • Auto-refraction
  • Tonometry (checking eye pressure)
  • Visual field testing
  • Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) (if applicable)
  • Fundus photography (if applicable)
  • Obtain patient history, including medical conditions, medications, and vision complaints.
  • Assist the optometrist with patient care, including:
  • Explaining procedures and treatments
  • Administering eye drops
  • Scribing examination findings
  • Maintain and sterilize ophthalmic equipment.
  • Educate patients on proper contact lens care, if applicable.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  • Stock and maintain exam rooms and supplies.

Responsibilities (Front Desk):

  • Greet patients and check them in/out efficiently and courteously.
  • Answer phone calls and schedule appointments.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
  • Collect patient payments and process transactions.
  • Maintain patient charts and ensure accuracy of information.
  • Manage patient flow and ensure a smooth and efficient patient experience.
  • Handle patient inquiries and resolve issues effectively.
  • Perform other administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or technical training preferred.
  • Previous experience as an Optometric Technician is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive and professional attitude.

Pay: $16.50 - $18.50 per hour
