Description
The Support Paralegal is responsible for investigating and researching facts and preparing documents to assist and support the team. Responsibilities include accurate management of cases and timely communication with clients and attorney. This position serves as the case manager and provides clerical support on prelitigation files under the direct supervision of their attorney and paralegal manager.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Case Management
o Investigation of insurance coverage
o Obtaining, reviewing, and organizing medical records
o Preparing, calculating, and maintaining damage summaries including medical expenses, lost wages, and property damage
o Logging mail and drafting any correspondence necessary for case management
o Balance verifications and assistance with subrogation lien resolution
o Preparation of file for litigation transfer when necessary
o Assist Attorney with settlement paperwork and disbursements
• Submissions
o Preparing and forwarding medical specials to insurance carriers
o Meeting and exceeding goals set
• Communicating and corresponding with clients, Attorney and insurance adjusters regarding case status
o Consistent client contacts
o Weekly reports
o Monthly team meetings
• Team Work
o Provide clerical support for other members of the team in their absence
Requirements
• Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task while maintaining organization
• Ability to exercise patience and professionalism in dealing with difficult clients and providers
• Must work well in a team atmosphere
• Must maintain excellent attendance and punctuality
Experience and Education
• 5-7 years’ experience in related field
• HS Diploma req.
• Bachelors / Paralegal certificate preferred
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• This job operates in a professional office environment. Exposure to computer screens and low level of noise.
