Description

Kitsap Humane Society (KHS) is a progressive animal welfare organization whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome homeless animals. We are committed to an open admissions policy, animal rehabilitation and a low euthanasia rate. KHS’s open adoption philosophy is an essential part of our progressive mission, enabling us to save and rehome thousands of animals each year.


POSITION SUMMARY: 

Fast paced, customer service position. CSR should be comfortable handling animals of all breed mixes and sizes. They should be welcoming to the public and have excellent communication skills. 


Requirements

  

KEY OR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Support the mission and philosophy of the Kitsap Humane Society

· Must advocate the humane treatment of animals and be able to transmit these values to others.

· Maintain a professional, inclusive environment, greet all clients, and answer any inquires.

· Update statuses, signage, and files for all animals in our care daily

· Prompt, accurate, and courteous replies to all customer emails and phone inquiries

· Assist potential adopters with meeting animals, going over medical and behavior history, and ensuring good match, while exercising good judgement in regards to placement. 

· Perform meet and greets between resident dogs and adoptable dogs, ensuring that the home is a good fit. 

· Confidently and thoroughly explaining animal behavior to adopters, training techniques, and management of each animals’ specific needs in order to set them up for success in a new home.

· While most interactions will be cats and dogs, CSR staff must be comfortable interacting with all animals, including livestock, fowl, small animals, and reptiles. 

· Promoting adoptable pets on various platforms, including creating and adding photos and adoption bios into shelter database.

· Processing all transactions, including adoptions, inventory sales, and licenses. 

· Maintain accurate receipt integrity.

· Accuracy of all data entry and proper allocation use for receipts.

· Knowledge of in care animals and ability to communicate that knowledge in a positive manner.

· Ability to multi-task with accuracy

· Comply with established policies and procedures.

· Perform job duties in compliance with departmental, safety and personnel policies.

· Attend required training classes as assigned.

· Other duties as assigned. 


KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

· Have demonstrated customer service experience and skills, including positivity, friendliness, tact, and sound judgment.

· Be comfortable handling cats and dogs of all temperaments.

· Strong data entry skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office

· Be computer literate and have experience working with Microsoft Office, email and mobile devices.

· Be able to communicate respectfully and effectively with people of all backgrounds.

· Skilled in cashier duties, i.e. Cash handling, accurate customer transactions, balancing till and reconciling receipts.

· Hard working, efficient, and proactive, with extremely strong time-management skills

· Able to remain composed and communicate respectfully and effectively with people of all backgrounds and personalities, even during difficult and emotional customer interactions 

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· A team player with the ability to work collaboratively and productively with volunteers, peers and other KHS staff

· Display professionalism, positivity, friendliness, tact and sound judgment in interactions with staff, volunteers and the public

· Able to work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks at one time, and to work well both as a team and in a self-directed environment.

· Be able to lift 50 lbs and to be physically able to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, and climb steps
