What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing Specialist position at Klamath Housing Authority?

Housing Specialist position. This person will interview, determine eligibility, and manage ongoing compliance for the HUD Housing Choice Voucher program, formally known as Section 8. Must be good with people, have superior organizational skills, and be proficient on a computer. Must be someone who can perform the essential functions of the job with or without an accommodation. This is a full-time position; 4 day work week at 40 hours a week with holiday and sick pay, 2 weeks' paid vacation and medical insurance. Eligible for PERS retirement after 6 months. Essential Duties:

Comply with all approved KHA policies and procedures, federal regulations and state statues as they relate to the Housing Choice Voucher program.

Schedule and conduct consideration appointments.

Work with other agencies to assist those with Housing Choice Vouchers to find satisfactory and suitable housing.

Maintain a caseload of up to 350 families who have a Housing Choice Voucher.

Schedule and process annual reexams and interim exams.

Assemble verified income, assets, and medical. Calculate rent amounts, utility allowances, obtain required signatures, and complete necessary files.

Interface with landlords to ensure that lease or rental contract is processed correctly.

Serve as liaison between KHA and general public.

Perform in-home interviews for applicants who are unable to come to the office.

Advise clients of program regulations.

Maintain client confidentiality.

Review records and perform investigation of cases involving potential program abuse.

Establish and maintain accurate computer records of all tenants on caseload.

Issue correspondence regarding tenant eligibility and program terminations.

Provide coverage at front desk for breaks and absences.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.03 per hour
