ON CALL ONLY NURSE 

Summary: To provide patient & family focused care as part of the health care team while applying standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Demonstrates and applies an in-depth knowledge of nursing principles, practices, standards, and techniques. Maintains a current awareness of the abilities and limitations of each staff member and assigns duties appropriate to each individual.

· Demonstrates an ability to communicate effectively using pertinent data with physicians, patients, families, and peers. Capable of being positive role model in evaluating, correcting, and re-directing patient care staff as needed.

· Delegates tasks appropriately to ancillary personnel, considering licensure, training, expertise, and needs of the patient.

· Works in all aspects of the perioperative setting (preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative).

· Performs efficiently in emergencies, following established policies, remaining calm, informing appropriate people, and documenting events.

· Teamwork is essential. RN must collaborate with peers and other disciplines in planning of care and communicates critical path/plan with team.

· Maintain Skill and perform IV-line placements.

· Performs and maintains skills and competency on an annual basis, as evidenced by completion of initial orientation, annual, and new procedure checklists.

· Meet or exceed age specific performance requirements by demonstrating knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide care to all age groups served; adolescent, 13-17 years; young adult/adult; 18-64 years; adult/middle aged, 65-79 years; geriatric, 80 years).

· Able to troubleshoot unit specific equipment.

· Reports, replaces, files work orders, on all malfunctioning equipment.

· Willing to work varied hours with flexible schedules.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Candidate must pass Urine Analysis and criminal background check.

Education/Experience:

Current unencumbered Oregon Nursing License

AHA BLS & ACLS certification by end of month from 30 days of hire & maintained.

Critical Care experience preferred.

Work Environment:

This is a fast-paced environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is working in Pre-Operative, OR rooms, and PACU environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
