Knight Barry Title is searching for a licensed Title Examiner to join our team!
A licensed examiner will examine residential real estate title to identify defects and matters that must be cured prior to a residential home closing by reviewing a title search completed by you, a company abstractor, or a search/abstract ordered from an external source. The examiner may also be asked to review other public records, analyze data, and prepare other title reports like an O&E from time to time. If qualified, the examiner may also be asked to coordinate commercial property with our commercial team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Search or order an abstract of the public records and compile results to determine legal condition of property title.
- Examines those searches in accordance with company procedures and local practices to determine the status of title.
- Analyzes deeds, mortgages, easements, judgments, taxes, liens, restrictions and other title matters.
- Responds to requests from company employees, attorneys, consumers and customers regarding status of title.
- From time to time, work with a closer to record original documents in the public record, making sure fees are correct and documents are properly executed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Analytical ability to perform tasks that are varied and short-term, with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to locate, accurately compile and interpret information affecting status of title to real property.
- Ability to work effectively with others, meet deadlines and to perform tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, in person and by telephone.
- Ability to work with electronic records and navigate the property records online in several area counties.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSING
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Some college preferred.
- Possession of a Valid State Insurance Producer's License preferred.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in the title industry which may include experience in understanding title abstract, title examinations, and the use of various county and state software programs (Record Ease, Landshark, Laredo, Tapestry, Beacon, Pacer, MN Court System)
