What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Lead/Chocolate Maker position at Knoke's Chocolates and Nuts?

We are a large-scale chocolate making and nut roasting facility serving several wholesale copanies and our retail store. We’re looking for a production lead who is hard-working and is motivated to lead a chocolate-making production team! This person is organized, good at multitasking and has excellent communication skills and a problem-solving mindset. This person should have experience in manufacturing, production and mangement.
In 2014 Knoke’s Chocolates and Nuts opened a production warehouse where our team of 5-10 production staff work to make 50 products plus many seasonal items for our retail shop and multiple corporate/wholesale clients. We specialize in producing several varieties of high-quality decadent candies including, truffles, toffee, brittle, caramels and more. Our continued growth leads us to require another full-time large-scale candy maker!
Hours:
- Hours vary 35-45 hours weekly depending on the season:
- slow season 4 days a week
- busy season 5-days a week
- 7am start (weekdays)
Job tasks/abilities:
- Assist in leading 5-10 employees
- Has the ability to keep up with peak production requirements and managing the team respectfully and efficiently.
- Operate as the lead chocolate production team member being able to make recipe items with the assistance of other team members.
- Anticipate product and ingredient needs for efficient ordering purposes.
- Know and understand (with training) the production schedule/needs and recipes with other team members.
- Check orders for the day/week/month and set up a timeline and production schedule.
- Maintain sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area. As well as understands and practices proper sanitation procedures and ensures the work area is always clean and neat.
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
- Physical demands include: May be required to stand for long periods of time. May involve repetitive motions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred qualifications/experience:
- Management experience
- great leader/communicator
- Organized leader able to create and implement a production schedule and all that is required to complete customer orders
- Large scale food service/baker/pasty experience and knowledge is a plus!
- Good at multitasking
- Bilingual in spanish & english is a plus!
Salary:
- Raises and starting salary are dependent on experience and performance. We value hard work and compensate for it.
