Part Time Teacher Aide Position

Summary
Assists teachers with supervision, toileting, behavior management and teaching of children on the spectrum in a classroom setting; assists in presenting and reinforcing learning concepts as directed by classroom teachers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides support to the teacher to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment.
- Assists the teacher in planning and preparation for daily activities; aids instructional efforts of the teacher.
- Assists the teacher in preparing lesson materials or supplies in assigned areas.
- Assists teachers with accompanying students to the bathroom/ toileting needs of all the students in the classroom setting.
- Assists teachers with maladaptive behaviors by following individual behavior protocols of each child or as directed by the teachers and BCBA.
- Leads classroom activities at the direction of the teacher.
- Assists children or adults, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments as directed by classroom teacher.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified preferred.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
- Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
- Child supervision skills.
- Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children.
- Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part of the job.
- Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Conditions of Employment
- Must obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Successful candidate must pass a comprehensive post-offer, pre-employment criminal and fingerprinting background check.
