As a Field Machinist you will be responsible for the following duties :
- Machinists are required to repair, maintain, install, and make improvements to chemical processing equipment and machinery (including pumps, agitators, fans, centrifuges, etc.).
- Ability to fabricate to exact tolerances using lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other shop equipment.
- Execute preventive maintenance program.
- Calibrate, align, and adjust production equipment.
- Work hours are Mon. - Fri., 8-hour days (40 hours / week) with occasional overtime.
- Longer term could be 24 / 7 coverage (Fireman's rotation - two 12-hour days, two 12-hour nights, 4 days rest)
- Available for call in on off hours as needed to make equipment repairs.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and maintenance software tools.
Qualifications include :
- HS diploma
- Field machinist or millwright training and demonstrated experience.
- Mechanical equipment repair training and / or demonstrated experience : pumps, mechanical seals, agitators, gear boxes, fans (bearings, sheaves), alignment.
- Able to work in confined spaces.
- Able to work from heights from a ladder or man lift.
- Demonstrate effective analytical troubleshooting skills.
- Able to read and interpret mechanical / machine drawings.
- Excellent safety record - places safety and environment as top priority in all work
- Knowledge of Lock Out / Tag Out
- Effective communication skills - daily communications with maintenance planner, technical staff and operations as needed.
- Good collaborator - willing to be flexible, work in other areas and with other trades as needed.
Minimum Education Level and experience :
2-year schooling and / or 5 plus years of demonstrated experience.
