PRESCHOOL ASSOCIATE TEACHER
Job Goal:
Create and maintain a safe, caring learning environment for preschool students and facilitate their learning and communications within the preschool environment. Work with administration to continue to develop a high-quality preschool program and to be a continuous learner in the understanding of preschool education.
Qualifications:
- An associate degree (AA) in early childhood education or child development or the equivalent; OR
- A valid Center-Based Preschool CDA credential; OR
- An existing 120 Hour approval
- Preschool experience preferred
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Assist with facilitation of the learning of preschool students through the implementation of the Creative Curriculum.
- Assist with conducting parent conferences twice per year around the curriculum, checkpoints and home visits prior to the student’s first day of school as well as at the end of the year.
- In collaboration with other GSRP teachers and the Early Childhood Center Director, Facilitate Family Participation Group (FPG) meetings at least twice per year.
- Assist with maintaining a comprehensive inventory of all classroom materials, supplies, and equipment; request additional items, as needed.
- Collaborate with community agencies (social services, MISD, therapists, health department, etc.) to support student needs, as appropriate.
- Participate in professional development, as required; record professional development on the LARA worksheet and submit all completion certificates to Early Childhood Center Director for your staff file. Professional development may include but is not limited to MISD provided trainings and monthly staff meetings.
- Arrive 30 minutes prior to the student’s start time to prepare the classroom for the day, including following the three-step cleaning process. Participate in carline for 15 minutes after dismissal then return to classrooms, workroom, etc. for final 15 minutes of daily prep.
- Eat lunch in the cafeteria with the students, family style, encouraging students to practice serving themselves, try new foods, and use manners while enjoying a meal together.
- Stand and or walk for long periods of time.
- Lift 10-40lbs
- Bend and or sit on the floor while interacting with students with the ability to stand up without sustaining injury.
- Withstand gross motor activities in varies outdoor conditions.
- Other duties, as assigned
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.
- Employee shall properly implement Board Policy 3122, Policy 4122, and Policy 2260 on non-discrimination and shall comply with Federal and State laws and regulations, particularly Part 1 104 of Section 504 Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (34 CFR) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Compensation: $30,233 - $34,047 Annual Salary plus benefits
Work Schedule: August 2025 – June 2026
