Koinonia Family Services is seeking a well-qualified individual to work as a Mental Health Behaviorist in its Loomis District Office in Loomis, California. The Behaviorist provides mental health supportive services, supervision of youth, and support/crisis intervention services to youth in the program.

This is a part-time role offering 20-25 hours per week, Monday-Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-home and in-community supportive mental health services for MediCal mental health clients (2-18) and their caregivers. This includes observing the child's behavior, providing direct interventions, and teaching coping skills. This also includes working with the child on anger management techniques or helping them navigate social situations in a community setting.
  • Utilize trauma informed interventions and assess situations in the moment to adjust interventions.
  • Collaborate with the child's therapist, case manager, and other Koinonia staff to discuss the child’s progress, share insights from in-home visits, and coordinate care strategies that align with the overall treatment plan.
  • Collaborate with county and community partners to meet the needs of the mental health clients and their caregivers. This includes working with local schools, social services, or other community organizations to ensure the child and their caregivers have access to additional resources, such as educational support, family counseling, or recreational programs.
  • Complete MediCal documentation to document the services provided, including the specific interventions used, the child’s response, and any follow-up actions. This documentation must be accurate and completed within the required timelines to comply with MediCal regulations.
  • Attend staff meetings, county partner meetings, child/family team meetings, and community partner meetings as needed.

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; AA or BA in behavioral health, child welfare, or related field preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to quickly establish a rapport with youth and co-workers.
  • Ability to interact successfully with youth from differing social, cultural, racial and religious backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in daily duties.
  • High personal integrity and a strong commitment to excellence.
  • Must have a reliable means of transportation.
  • Must have a good driving record.

Important Note:

Qualified candidates must complete a criminal background clearance through the California Department of Justice and FBI to ensure eligibility for employment, as well as a pre-employment physical and TB test.
