Kona Pacific Public Charter School is seeking a passionate and experienced Waldorf Mentor to support the development and implementation of our Waldorf-inspired educational practices. This position plays a vital role in fostering a culture of creativity, holistic learning, and community-centered education through professional development, event coordination, and guidance in arts and curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
Professional Development:
Provide mentorship and training to faculty on Waldorf-inspired methodologies, including main lesson content, storytelling, and arts integration.
Lead workshops and provide resources to support teachers in developing their Waldorf-based instructional skills.
Curriculum and Lesson Support:
Collaborate with teachers to enrich curriculum with Waldorf principles, including rhythmic lesson planning, nature-based education, and artistic activities.
Offer insights on incorporating seasonal themes and cultural traditions into lessons.
Event and Celebration Coordination:
Support the planning and execution of Waldorf-inspired festivals, community celebrations, and seasonal events.
Guide faculty and staff in preparing students for meaningful participation in these events.
Arts and Creative Integration:
Inspire and mentor staff in integrating visual arts, music, movement, and handwork into daily lessons.
Provide feedback on the use of arts to enhance student engagement and learning.
Qualifications
Deep understanding of Waldorf pedagogy, philosophy, and practices.
Experience teaching or mentoring in a Waldorf-inspired setting.
Ability to collaborate with educators from diverse backgrounds and integrate Waldorf practices into a standards-based curriculum.
Flexible mindset and ability to support Waldorf-inspired practices in a positive and forward-driven manner, understanding that it is one of five core tenets of the school and not the sole driving force.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Creativity, flexibility, and a commitment to fostering a joyful and holistic learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in Waldorf education or equivalent experience.
Background in Waldorf arts (e.g., Eurythmy, storytelling, handwork).
Experience planning and facilitating community events or festivals.
Work Schedule and Compensation
This is a casual or stipend-based position with flexible hours. The mentor will work closely with school leadership to determine the schedule based on program needs.
