Quality Assurance Technician
Pay range: $18 - $25 per hour, depending on experience
Kreher Family Farms is looking for a Quality Assurance Technician that is familiar with food safety standards. It is the responsibility of the Quality Assurance Technician I to meet or exceed Kreher quality standards through inspecting eggs in all aspects of the egg farm operations, logging findings, and reporting unusual findings to the Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance to ensure the customer has the best quality egg.

JOB RESPONSIBILTIES:
Customer Focused
- Understand role in servicing the customer through efficiency and quality in duties relative to inspecting eggs.
- Meet incredible customer service standards by monitoring computer information for quality issues and making sure all equipment components are working properly (i.e., scales, dirt detector, crack detector, blood detector).
- Monitor cooler temperature and humidity to maintain freshness and quality of product for the customer.
- Reflect a dedicated and reliable commitment to serving the customer through reliable attendance & punctuality.
Quality Driven
- Prepare and send egg and feed samples for outside testing (i.e., Eggland’s Best).
- Conduct water sampling and testing as needed
- Monitor egg weight parameters to ensure carton and eggs match up.
- Conduct monthly lab testing (Haugh units) on eggs from each house and incoming eggs; notifies Director of QA & FS of any problems.
- Monitor quality, mixes, and maintain solutions for egg grader water systems (soap, defoamer, chlorine).
- Complete cooler temperature checks.
- Look for opportunities to eliminate re-work, waste, etc., and inform management of potential hazards.
- Assist with tracking packaging quality issues.
- Assist with egg quality issues and communicate with USDA inspector.
- Conduct monthly thermometer calibrations.
- Conduct pre-operative inspections each morning before start of the grading machine.
- If pre-operative inspections show a need for follow up, communicate with the Sanitation Supervisor. Continually improved sanitation. Maintain log of inspection findings and summarize information to Processing Supervisor, as well as notify manager when USDA specifications are not met.
- Partner with USDA in maintaining quality standards.
- Check EB stamps for Quality. Reduce misprints; collect and record number for each day
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Thorough knowledge of egg processing and packaging.
- Previous experience with Quality Assurance and Food Safety
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong organization skills.
