Surgical Assistant / Surgical Technologist - Oral Surgery (Training Provided)
Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Schedule: Full-Time (32–38 hours/week), Monday–Friday
We are partnering with a specialty oral surgery practice to hire a Surgical Assistant / Surgical Technologist interested in transitioning into an outpatient surgical setting. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in surgical technology, medical assisting, or clinical patient care who enjoy hands-on procedures, patient interaction, and working closely with surgeons.

What You’ll Do
- Assist the oral surgeon during procedures including:
- Tooth extractions
- Dental implants
- Bone grafting
- IV sedation cases
- Prepare and maintain sterile surgical setups and instruments
- Take and process dental X-rays and CBCT scans (training provided if needed)
- Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures (including vital signs)
- Support IV sedation workflows and patient safety protocols
- Educate patients on pre- and post-operative care instructions
- Maintain accurate charts and surgical documentation
- Follow OSHA, HIPAA, and infection-control protocols
Qualifications
- Surgical technologist, Medical Assistant, clinical patient-care background background
- Experience working in sterile or procedural environments
- Willingness to learn oral surgery procedures and dental workflows
- X-ray certification (or willingness to obtain)
- CPR/BLS required
- ACLS required (in-house training and support provided)
- Strong attention to detail in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Calm, professional, and compassionate chairside manner

Schedule
- Monday–Friday — no evenings or weekends
- Typical hours fall between 32–38 hours/week
- Everyone receives a scheduled ½-day off during the week
- Fridays are straight through: 7:30 AM – 2:00 PM
