Department: SOM KC Biochemistry ----- Research Staff Position Title: Research Assistant - BMB Research Job Family Group: Professional Staff Job Description Summary: A research assistant (RA) position is available immediately in the newly established laboratory of Dr. Prakash Kharel (Laboratory of RNA Biology and Therapeutics). The candidate selected for the position will work as part of a multidisciplinary research group, employing multiple biochemical, biophysical, molecular, cellular, and genetic approaches focusing on determining how RNA secondary structures play critical roles in RNA biology. The RA will work on a number of projects in the lab as needs arise. Assist in ordering and general lab duties by using Workday. Design and perform general lab experiments that include, but are not limited to, RNA isolation, RNA synthesis and purification, protein expression and purification, tissue culture, and molecular biology. Education can for experience substitute on a year for year basis Preferred Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in Biochemistry or related field. Work Experience: Experience in either cellular biology, molecular biology, or biochemistry.
