Maintenance Technician

Installs, maintains, and repairs manufacturing equipment and fixtures. Conducts general maintenance activities primarily on machinery and related equipment. Maintains repair and maintenance records. Troubleshoots problems and escalates the most complex issues to senior coworkers. Typically has 3-5 years of experience and works under broad supervision. Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine. Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment. Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment. Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment. Installs, repairs, and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance. Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation. Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts. Determines changes in requirements of parts by inspecting and measuring various instruments. Maintains inventories of equipment parts and supplies by checking stock and placing orders. Trains production workers on routine preventive maintenance. Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests. Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Performs any other duties assigned. Bachelor’s degree (or >5 years experience) in mechanical engineering or similar field. Previous work experience as an industrial maintenance technician. In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems maintenance. Knowledge of parametric and industrial control systems. Familiarity (and demonstration of) OSHA safety standards and regulations. Excellent troubleshooting skills. Basic computer and report writing skills. Effective communication skills and ability to read/write in English. Ability to lift and manipulate heavy equipment. Good time-management skills.
