Electrical Engineer

This individual could work in our Wausau or Minneapolis office. We would consider remote if someone has prior experience in our industry! 

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and commission control systems for projects as required. This includes the activities listed below.

• • Develop control system Description of System Operation (DOSO) documentation
  • Complete project-specific PLC programming
  • Complete project-specific communications programming
  • Complete project-specific operator interface programming
  • Develop operation and maintenance (O&M) documentation
  • Develop factory acceptance test (FAT) documentation
  • Develop site acceptance test (SAT) documentation
  • Develop customer training documentation
  • Perform factory functional testing
  • Perform installation supervision of equipment
  • Perform field commissioning of equipment
  • Troubleshoot PLC based control systems

• Provide electrical support for design, development, testing, and commissioning of control systems for projects as required. This includes the activities listed below.

• • Design support for electrical schematic diagrams, external electrical interconnection diagrams, and field instrumentation systems
  • Interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Perform and support electrical calculations for system sizing and component selection.
  • Perform and support mechanical calculations for system sizing and component selection.
  • Utilize electrical and hydraulic test equipment.
• Support engineering division as requested.
• Utilize L&S Electric ISO system to ensure quality products and services.
• Work effectively with all other project team members such as control, electrical, HMI, and mechanical disciplines.

Requirements:

• BSEE or BSCE with emphasis in power systems.
• Hydroelectric power plant operations and equipment knowledge.
• Ability to travel approximately 10% both domestically and internationally, including Canada.
• Able to perform all essential functions of the job.
• Able to work for any employer in the United States.
• Valid driver’s license and able to be insured
• Valid passport or ability to obtain one
• Ability to travel to Canada.

Physical demands:

• Core working hours start at 8AM unless prior approval given. Eight (8) working hours per day are required. Overtime requires prior approval.
• Environmental conditions vary from facility to facility (e.g. heat, noise).
• Work from assigned L&S office unless prior approval given.
• Work is performed at the customer jobsite as well as at L&S Electric facilities
• Aerial work may sometimes be necessary.
• Occasional lifting of heavy objects.
• Uneven or slippery walking surfaces.
• Ability to travel approximately 10% both domestically and internationally.
