La Jolla LASIK Institute is looking for a full-time ophthalmic technician who is positive, energetic and has excellent communication skills to join our team. Responsibilities Include
- Greets patients, introduces self and guides to appropriate exam area
- Does pre-testing on Auto-refractor, Pentacam, and iCare tonometry
- Takes patient history, visual acuities, checks for ocular dominance
- Answers ophthalmology-related patient calls and triages patients
- Educates patient on pre- and post-operative care
- Calls pharmacies regarding prescriptions/prior authorizations
- Responsible for daily maintenance and stocking of exam lanes (open and close)
- Maintains sterile technique in accordance with OSHA standards
- Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
- Performs additional testing such as Visual Field or IOL calculations as needed
- Ability to refract a plus
