Job Summary:
As a Preservation Associate, you will play a key role in helping preserve historical government records and books. This position is ideal for detail-oriented individuals who enjoy quiet, hands-on work. You’ll begin on the Spray & End Cap team, using non-toxic chemicals to treat pages before placing them into protective sleeves. As you demonstrate reliability, you may transition to other tasks such as trimming, mending, and repairing pages.
This role is in a climate-controlled facility with a calm environment where you can listen to music or podcasts while you work.
Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use spray machines to apply a deacidification solution to pages (PPE provided)
- Insert treated pages into plastic sheets to reassemble books
- Maintain focus and high quality on repetitive tasks
- Work independently and follow standard procedures
- Follow all facility safety protocols and rules
- Keep a clean, organized workspace and report any issues
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Associates degree or higher
- Basic computer skills
- Attention to detail
- Adaptability
- Strong reliability and commitment to long term assignment and showing up on time every day
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Warehouse or assembly experience preferred
