Cleaning Operator

Description/Job Summary

SUMMARY
Clean lenses utilizing various soaps or chemicals. The cleaning area uses a number of different means of cleaning lenses from hand cleaning to ultrasonic cleaning machines.

Cleaning Operator I - All of the essential duties and responsibilities listed below would be expected for an employee to perform with guidance and training during the first few years of employment. There will be some positions that will continue to be this level when set ups and adjustments are not made by the employee.

Cleaning Operator II - All of the essential duties and responsibilities listed below would be expected for an employee to perform at a confident proficient level in 2 or more years of experience. This would include setting up and making adjustments with minimal supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily after completing the initial training. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Regular and punctual attendance is required
• Overtime hours may be required, if needed
• Safety: Hazardous materials, Escape Routes, Proper Apparel
• General understanding of flow of parts
• Bar coding to record flow of parts
• Use and understanding of work instructions
• Clean lenses using various cleaning solvents
• Hand clean lenses
• Set-up and shut down ultrasonic cleaning machines
• Clean machines
• Confirm count on incoming racks
• Check temperature and timers on cleaning lines
• Rack lenses when needed

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to understand, speak and read English to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to understand and to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve common problems associated with the job.
