JOB SUMMARY

The Material Planner will be responsible for ordering and maintaining raw material inventories for onsite and offsite production requirements ensuring availability to meet production requirements. Provide project support to all departments as needed. Process company purchase orders, research and reconcile discrepancies, assist with inventory control. Follow procurement process as outlined in accordance with standard operating procedure.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

• Responsible for all aspects of food safety and quality as applicable and defined in plant and department procedures.

• Maintain material inventories for specified category to support production plan while minimizing obsolescence.

• Ensure maintenance of MRP settings to optimize overall system planning and conduct regular reviews of settings.

• Develop packaging/raw material run out plans utilizing cross-functional teams.

• Support teams via attendance of project meetings, commercialization and prelaunch checklist meetings.

• Analyze and order raw materials/packaging for Stonyfield production (fruit, flavors, packaging, corrugated, etc.) within specified supplier lead-time to ensure availability of materials to support production schedule.

• Responsible for making analytical decisions using MRP to determine materials/packaging orders.

• Utilize proper channels for supplier escalations in regards to CSL issues, material shortages, deliveries

• Provide start up forecasts to suppliers for new launches

• Provide quarterly material/packaging forecast to suppliers, copying the appropriate Lactalis buyer.

• Manage day-to-day support for the plant: scheduling, materials warehouse, production and WMS teams via detailed communications and OPL’s (one-point lessons).

• Receive and document inbound material/packaging delivery appointments.

• Participate in Blocked Material Reviews and Weekly Planning/Procurement meetings.

• Monitor Days to Expire report for materials /packaging.

• Track and follow up on raw materials on Quality Hold

• Issue purchase orders for raw materials and packaging.

• Request G and S PO's for misc. events (materials at Co-Man, fuel surcharges, rush requests).

• Troubleshoot and research problems with purchase orders.

• Work with Accounts Payable/Inventory Solutions Team to reconcile receiving discrepancies.

• Strive to achieve monthly days on hand raw material goals as well as maintaining safety stock levels within MRP.

• Manage supplier confirmations of PO via e-mail to ensure supplier acceptance.

• Communicate day-to-day BOM date changes to master data for graphics/raw material changes.

• Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an accredited institution or the equivalent combination of experience and education.

• 3 plus years similar experience in supply chain/material planning environment required.

• Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint required.

• Experience in fast paced manufacturing environment desirable.

• Demonstrated understanding of supply chain processes and safety stock optimization strategies.

• Demonstrated understanding of materials and supplier management.

• Working knowledge of ERP systems as it relates to materials function (SAP preferred).

• Proactive solutions oriented mindset-ability to think ahead and deliver solutions

• Ability to set deadlines and key timetables for acheivements with minimal guidance.

• Ability to work effectively in teams and ensure mutual KPI's are achieved.

• Ability to build relationships quickly & establish trust both internally and externally.

• Strong Project Management/Organizational skills.

• Success in problem solving and critical thinking.

• Proven ability to execute results quickly and effectively.

• Develop talent through training, feedback and coaching.

• Solid communication skills in highlighting issues to senior management.

• Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast track environment.

• Proven Analytical skills.

• APICS certification a plus.

• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines with specified time constraints.

• Ability to operate in a team environment.

• Ability to adapt in a changing work environment.
