What are the responsibilities and job description for the Math Tutor Grades 9 - 12 position at Lafayette Academy?
Academic Tutor
Lafayette Academy is looking for tutors during the 2024-2025 school year in the following subjects:
Preferred Subjects:
- AP Calculus AB
- AP Calculus BC
Ability to teach other subjects is a plus:
- Foreign Language, and other high school subjects.
- K-8 math and reading
The ability to teach multiple subjects is preferred. Unfortunately, we are unable to hire single-subject tutors at this time.
Lafayette Academy is looking for tutors for high school aged students. Our tutors pride themselves on going beyond just helping with homework and guiding students to "aha" moments by adapting to their unique needs and learning styles.
We have 12 - 32 hours per week available for each tutor. You decide how much (and when) you want to work. We tutor from 2:30 - 9:30 Monday to Thursday and 9 - 5 on the weekends. Our wonderful front desk staff will book you in our center or online - you will not have to worry about doing your own scheduling!
Lafayette Academy is a fantastic place to work; many of our tutors have been with us for several years. We're known for our relaxed, fun environment with students who want to come to our centers to get help. In fact, we were named "Best of the East Bay" for five straight years.

1) You can earn $25 - $35/hour, and you get paid for late cancellations and no-shows.
2) All tutoring takes place either in our Lafayette center or online. We will provide textbooks and other materials to use during tutoring sessions. Our front desk task takes care of all scheduling.
3) This is a particularly good opportunity for anyone looking for longer-term employment, but we also hire a lot of people on their way to grad school. We are looking for tutors who are able to commit to at least one semester of tutoring.
