LAFOURCHE PARISH SCHOOL BOARD
Title: Secondary Schools Instructional Coach
Qualifications:
- Individual must hold a valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate, meeting the requirement listed in the Louisiana Standards for State certification of school personnel, Bulletin 746, Part III, IV, V, VI, VII,IX, and X.
- Masters Degree preferred;
- Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience
- Additional criteria as the board may require
- Minimum requirements as stated in SDE Bulletin 746 (as revised)
- Qualifications should not be established for the individual, but rather
- for the position.
Reports To: Curriculum Supervisor
Performance Responsibilities:
The Secondary Schools Instructional Coach shall facilitate effective teaching and instructional programs by assisting teachers in planning, facilitating and evaluating the learning progress of all students.
DOMAIN I: CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION
The Instructional Coach:
- models effective program strategies across the curriculum;
- monitors teachers to assure the implementation of effective instruction;
- conducts daily classroom visits to encourage and support teachers in the implementation of effective research-based strategies across the curriculum;
- conducts model lessons for classroom teachers;
- provides assistance and support to teachers;
- assists teachers as they conduct continuous progress-monitoring of students;
- collaborates and coordinates efforts with school principals to ensure effectiveinstruction across the curriculum;
- assists school improvement team and principal in the analyzing of school data to determine student academic performance and instructional needs;
- assists school improvement team and principal in the identification of students exhibiting needs
- assists teachers with the administration of pre/post intervention assessments;
- provides quarterly program evaluation reports to school principal;
- coordinates and provides staff development in-services to teachers that focus on development across the curriculum;
- presents the accomplishments of strategy implementation at meetings;
- conducts meetings with teachers to review the effectiveness of strategies across the curriculum.
DOMAIN II: EVALUATION
The Instructional Coach:
- assists school improvement teams and principals in the analyzing of school data to determine student academic performance and instructional needs;
- assists teachers with the administration of pre/post intervention assessments; and
- provides quarterly program evaluation reports to school principals and federal program supervisors.
DOMAIN III: STAFF DEVELOPMENT
The Instructional Coach:
- coordinates and provides staff development in-services to teachers that focus on sound instructional strategies;
- conducts meetings with teachers to review the effectiveness of strategies across the curriculum.
DOMAIN IV: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND ETHICS
The Instructional Coach:
- participates in Instructional Coach training sessions;
- keeps abreast of innovative practices and research through extensive professional readings and participation in seminars, conferences and workshops;
- disseminates information about current trends, research, and practices to teachers and administrators:
- observes professional ethics;
- cooperates and works along with entire staff of each assigned school;
- seeks, shares and respects ideas of others; and
- performs such tasks and duties as assigned by the superintendent and/or his designee.
DOMAIN V: PROFESSIONALISM
The Instructional Coach grows and develops through professional development as assigned and voluntarily to improve teaching and learning.

- completes tasks, reports, and documents accurately according to specified timelines and expectations.

METHOD OF EVALUATION
The combination of the applicable measure of growth in student learning and the qualitative assessment of performance competencies and standards shall result in a composite score used to distinguish levels of overall effectiveness.
