What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency Management and Safety Coordinator position at Lake Erie Regional Health System of New York (closed)?
Integrates and applies the concepts of Comprehensive Emergency Management, (mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery) and provides support to safety and health issues with the objective of improving organizational performance while reducing risk and/or actual loss. The Emergency Management and Safety Coordinator is responsible for development, implementation, and evaluation of the emergency management/disaster preparedness - response program and overall healthcare system safety program. This includes revising and updating plans and standard operating procedures to ensure National Incident Management System (NIMS) compliance. The Emergency Management and Safety Coordinator assures compliance and reporting with all regulatory bodies and maintains effective working relationships with local, state, and federal emergency agencies.
EDUCATION REQUIRED (Minimum): Required High School or Equivalent. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, risk assessments, S.O.C , Life Safety blueprints and regulatory standards; effectively present information to staff, management, public groups and/or Governing Body. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (Minimum): 2 years’ experience with disaster planning, emergency management or emergency preparedness.
(Preferred): Bachelor's Emergency Management or Prior training, certification or experience in the following areas: Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP), hospital-based emergency medicine/nursing, other emergency medical services and/or fire response services, risk management or hazardous materials management.
