What are the responsibilities and job description for the Landscaping Associate position at Land Stewards, LLC Ecological Landscaping?
Land Stewards, an ecologically-based landscape firm, is seeking to expand its team with an experienced Landscape Associate.
Our diverse projects include naturalistic gardens, meadow/woodland/streambank restoration, rain garden construction, invasive plant management and natural stonework. Candidates must have experience with professional landscape practices including planting, transplanting, pruning, and plant identification.
Through our use of an exclusively native plant palette, indigenous materials, and other strategies, our work is respectful to and reflective of place and aims to serve as habitat, stormwater mitigation, and food and nectar resources. We’re seeking individuals that are interested in contributing to these goals through mindful hard work.
Our work is performed year-round and in all types of weather. The role of a Landscape Practitioner is a challenging physical job, creatively stimulating and rewarding. Candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work collaboratively with a team and independently at times.
Qualified candidates will:
- Possess an understanding of native plant communities and demonstrate the ability to ID native, non-native and invasive plants
- Have the ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs. and be able to perform a variety of physical duties for 8 hours daily with frequent bending, lifting and carrying.
- Have experience operating a skid steer, and/or, backhoe, mini excavator and/or stake body dump truck
- Demonstrate proficiency in landscape vernacular and professional landscape practices
- Experience with hardscaping is preferred but not necessary
Education:
Preferred applicants will hold a B.S. in Environmental Science, Sustainable Design, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture or related field of study.
Occasional weekend work may be required.
