We are seeking a Project Engineer to lead geotechnical investigations, materials testing, and compliance reporting, ensuring projects meet quality and budget expectations.
The Project Engineer supports the Geotechnical Manager and is responsible for:
β Project Oversight β Managing site investigations, soil testing, inspections, and reporting.
β Client Coordination β Acting as a primary contact to ensure smooth project execution.
β Quality Control & Compliance β Ensuring reports, compliance letters, and lab tests meet industry standards.
β Team Leadership β Supervising field technicians and assisting with training.
β Process Optimization β Improving workflows for geotechnical assessments and testing.
This role is predominantly office-based with frequent fieldwork and occasional travel to job sites in Utah, Arizona, and Nevada.
β Education: B.S. in Civil Engineering (M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering preferred)
β Experience: 3 years in Geotechnical Engineering with field/lab testing experience
β Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) required
β Software Proficiency: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, QuickBooks) geotechnical software
β Geotechnical Testing & Evaluations: Proficiency in soil analysis, foundation design, pavement assessments, and construction materials testing.
β Field & Lab Expertise: Ability to conduct and review Perc tests, soil texturing, rock wall designs, grading reports, and distress evaluations.
β Client Relationship Management: Strong ability to communicate technical findings to clients and project stakeholders.
β Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Ability to assess challenges and propose data-driven solutions.
πΉ Ability to lift up to 80 lbs unassisted and handle equipment up to 250 lbs with team support
πΉ Comfortable working in construction environments with moderate-to-high noise levels
πΉ Ability to conduct fieldwork, navigate job sites, and sit for extended periods when reporting data
