Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Coordinator to join our team at Landwehr Construction, Inc. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate payroll processing and maintaining compliance with payroll policies. Located in the Midwest, this position plays an essential part in supporting our workforce and contributing to our mission of excellence.
Education: High school diploma required. Experience in Accounting or experience in payroll, preferably in construction or a union environment.
Responsibilities
Certified Payroll & Compliance
- Prepare and submit weekly certified payroll reports in compliance with prevailing wage laws.
- Generate and review monthly compliance reports to ensure adherence to state and federal regulations.
- Monitor and verify subcontractor payroll submissions for accuracy and compliance. Follow up with subcontractors as necessary.
Payroll & Employee Data Management
- Assist Payroll Specialists with weekly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Enter new hires into payroll and HR systems, verifying employee information.
- Conduct employment verifications and respond to payroll-related inquiries.
- Support union and non-union payroll processes, ensuring correct reporting of wages, benefits, and deductions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of union agreements and prevailing wage laws.
General Support
- Assist with audits by gathering payroll data and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation for compliance and reporting purposes.
- Assist with filing for payroll and HR.
- Back up answering phones.
- All other duties as assigned
- Assist in preparing reports related to payroll metrics and compliance audits.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate employee data management.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in payroll processing or related accounting roles.
- Familiarity with certified payroll reporting and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of prevailing wage laws and union payroll processes is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and general ledger accounting principles.
- Familiarity with Foundation or similar payroll software is highly desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines.
- Experience with HRIS systems is a plus but not required.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members.
- Must be able to take and give directions from and to others.
- Valid driver’s license.
