Summary
As a Purchasing Agent, you will be integral to our procurement process, reporting directly to the Procurement Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to source and negotiate contracts with suppliers to ensure the best pricing and quality for our organization. Utilizing core skills in purchasing and negotiation, you will manage inventory levels and support supply chain management. Your relevant skills in logistics and production planning will further enhance our operational efficiency, making you a vital asset to our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for monitoring all consignment contracts to ensure that negotiated terms and conditions are respected.
- Prepares discount and refund claims, renegotiating as required, and processes purchase order requisitions and contacts vendors for purchase.
- Confirms daily supplies reorder report to ensure proper stock is maintained and reacts to any product not delivered on or before purchase date.
- Contacts vendors to return product for exchange, credit, or replacement.
- Perform physical inventories and reconciliation for Inventory items and department counts on a monthly basis.
- Monitors follow up files on supplies.
- Maintain data entry of all purchase orders, receipts and usages for all inventory and non-inventory items.
- Approves all invoices for inventory and non-inventory items, excluding paper.
- Researches and makes recommendations with regards to suppliers, service, and products.
- Active price comparisons for ongoing items in Inventory.
- Meeting with vendors for ongoing issues or for new item/new vendor.
- Hazardous Material tracking.
- Purchasing for Maintenance Department and working withMP2 system, keeping it updated.
- Provides accounting with all monthly and year-end reports. Other duties/tasks assigned by direct supervisor or any managerial staff member.
- Provide paper according to job specifications and meet schedules.
- Maintain accurate/current paper pricing reporting.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in purchasing and procurement processes
- Strong negotiation skills with a focus on cost reduction
- Knowledge of materials management and MRP systems
- Familiarity with supply chain management and logistics
- Ability to manage inventory control and production planning
- Understanding of e-commerce and merchandising principles
- Aware of and comply with The Lane Press Quality & Safety guidelines.
- A high school diploma or the equivalent is required with prior experience in a purchasing environment, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- Candidate should possess excellent communication skills, be well organized, able to prioritize, and be assertive, decisive, diplomatic and professional. OSHA training in DOT, SDS, GHS Labeling and HAZWOPER is ideal but not required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
