What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jr. Construction Estimator position at Laney Companies?
JR. CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR
M.T. Laney Co. Inc. has an excellent opportunity for an entry-level and highly motivated Jr. Construction Estimator to join our team based in Eldersburg, MD. The Jr. Estimator will assist and support our lead Estimators in preparing bids.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Read plans and prepare quantity takeoffs
- Ability to prepare proposals and change orders and send them to clients
- Able to solicit material and Subcontractor quotes
- Prepare Quantity take-offs
- Good Communication skills (both verbal and written) and ability to work with others, possess excellent customer service skills, and liaise efficiently with clients, contractors, and management
- Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic
- Must be proficient in mathematics
- Ability to plan, organize, and work assignments as well as other tasks as required by the Senior Estimators
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Valid Driver's license with a good driving record
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
SALARY/HOURLY EXEMPTION:
- Full-Time
- Salary based on knowledge, experience, and education
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office Environment and occasional travel
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
- Stand and sit for prolonged amounts of time
- Walk, bend, kneel, and twist
- Talk and hear
- Lift and move up to 50 pounds on occasions
EDUCATION:
- High School Education preferred
NON-ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of MS Project a plus but not required
- Knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid is a plus but not required
EXPERIENCE:
- Construction Estimating 1 year preferred but not required
