Position Overview
Lang Constructors is seeking a Construction Accountant to support and manage accounting functions related to active construction projects in a fast-paced environment.
This role is responsible for assisting in the management of project financials from invoice through close-out, ensuring accurate job costing, timely billing, and well-maintained WIP reporting. The ideal candidate will have construction accounting experience and a desire to grow in responsibility over time.
The position works closely with project managers and company leadership to support strong financial processes, reliable reporting, and organized project accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, including subcontractor, vendor, and customer invoicing
- Prepare and manage AIA subcontract agreements and process AIA pay applications from subcontractors
- Prepare AIA progress billings to customers, including retainage tracking and lien waiver compliance
- Ensure accurate job costing by reviewing and validating cost allocations
- Prepare and maintain monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and percentage-of-completion reporting
- Generate and distribute job cost and project financial reports to project managers and leadership
- Prepare monthly financial statements (Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet)
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, including finalizing WIP schedules and project reporting
- Maintain organized, audit-ready financial and project documentation
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in construction accounting or project-based accounting
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Strong experience with:
- AIA contracts and progress billing
- Retainage and lien waiver tracking
- Percentage-of-completion accounting
- Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (Enterprise preferred) and Excel
- Strong understanding of job cost reporting in a multi-project environment
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple active projects in a fast-paced construction setting
- Professional communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with project managers

Compensation & Benefits
• Salary Range: $65,000 – $75,000 per year, depending on experience
