What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Carpenter position at Langston Construction Co. of Piedmont, LLC?
- Follow company safety policies and practices.
- Read and interpret construction drawings.
- Verify that work meets quality requirements per the specifications and drawings.
- Layout assigned tasks.
- Perform accurate measurement for cutting and assembling of materials.
- Cut lumber using power tools.
- Have knowledge and experience in the safe use of all carpenter tools including hand tools and power tools.
- Cleanup work areas. Maintain good housekeeping on the jobsite.
- Load or unload materials to be used on the jobsite.
- Carry or deliver materials and tools to the designated work area.
- Use hand tools to dig, backfill or fine grade areas for concrete pours.
- Build forms and remove forms.
- Layout formwork.
- Assist with concrete placement.
- Erect scaffolding.
- Climb ladders or scaffolding as required.
- Construct temporary dust walls.
- Perform selected demolition using hand tools as directed by the supervisor.
- Assist supervisor or other craft workers with work as directed by the supervisor.
- Physical Requirements –
- Standing and climbing 6 to 8 hours per day.
- Kneeling, lifting, reaching above shoulders and bending (90 degrees) 4 to 6 hours per day.
- Twisting (180 degrees) 2 to 4 hours per day.
- Squatting and sitting 1 to 2 hours per day.
- Lifting weights of 1 to 100 lbs.
- Ability to lift from floor to above the shoulder.
- Must be able to perform general construction work proficiently.
- Must be dependable.
