Lanoha Nurseries is expanding its growing operations within our annual/perennial/shrub production department. Essential Skills

· Accurately scout and identify insect, disease and growth-related problems

· Accurately judges watering needs. Waters crops using sprinkler booms and overheads as needed.

· Confident in PGR’s. Determines when, what type and rate of PGR is needed to improve quality and meet scheduled finish dates.

· Proficient in mixing and applying fertilizers at correct rates consistently with minimal instruction.

· Must be able to accurately test for pH & EC. Analyze results and act.

· Understands plant physiology, chemistry and how pH affects nutrients and the plants response.

· Must be able to pass test and obtain Nebraska Chemical Applicators License.

· Bi-lingual, ability to speck and understand Spanish, a plus but not required.

Essential Functions

· Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and accomplish objectives with minimal supervision. Performs daily walkthroughs and creates daily action plans.

· Monitor fertilization levels on a weekly basis. Check the fertilizer injectors to ensure proper calibration and operation. Troubleshoots injectors.

· Demonstrates the ability to self-educate and become an expert in greenhouse operations. Understands the proper operation of exhaust fans, vents, heaters and heating systems.

· Maintains the correct environmental conditions for each crop. Ensures that all equipment controlled by an iGrow (greenhouse controllers) is operating properly.

· Active member of spray team for all rotations. Mixes and applies pesticides as needed wearing all appropriate PPE including spray suits and respirators while using high pressure sprayers or other spray equipment.

· Responsible for all spray applications that occur within assigned areas.

· Correctly follows sanitary procedures following any disease or crop failure concerns.

· Ensure that all work areas are kept clean.

· Possesses the knowledge, ability and willingness to work in any area of our production facility.

· Develops training resources and implements as needed to instruct laborers

· Actively contribute to the continued success of the company by expressing new ideas that can result in lower costs, improved profits, and improved efficiency. Design and implement experiments that will benefit an individual, the team, or the company.

· All other duties as assigned.

Experience/Education

· 2–4-year degree in Horticulture or related field and 3-5 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education or experience.

· Must understand the use of injectors, boom and irrigation systems.

· Confident in PGR’s, understanding pH and EC and the current research centered around their use.

· Accurately determine the proper rate and frequency of PGR applications. When to apply and rate to apply to control growth and assure a quality plant consistently.

· Must have in-depth knowledge of the safe handling and application of chemicals such as fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides and plant growth regulators.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to work outside daily in conditions of varying temperature and high moisture environment.

· May be exposed to temperature extremes that can be 10-20 degrees above outside temperatures.

· Ability to work on your feet all day while performing job duties

· Ability to lift 50 lbs.
