Primary Functions:
In partnership with the SGS coordinator, the Self-Guided Study Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing the SGS program in accordance with the school’s mission and vision. This position requires effective communication with all stakeholders, including students, parents, faculty, and staff. Directly Responsible to: Deputy Executive Director Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree: Valid CA Teaching Credential; TB Test Clearance & Department of Justice background clearance; Direct experience in curriculum development as it relates to Constructivism, Whole Child, and state standards; An enthusiasm for instructional leadership and curriculum development to support a young and growing school program. Essential Functions:
Curriculum Development

Collaborate with SGS coordinator to assess curriculum needs.

Design and implement innovative and engaging curriculum materials, resources, and assessments aligned with state standards and educational best practices with a particular focus on math and ELA.

Analyze student achievement data to assess the effectiveness of curriculum implementation and make recommendations for improvement.
Knowledge of: Constructivist learning theory and means to manage teachers in its application in the classroom; CA Common Core State Standards; Classroom management strategies and ability to create and maintain a virtual classroom environment of safety, respect, and learning; Cultural and socio-economic differences in the student population; Conflict resolution strategies to support healthy social development in students; Professional skills for collaboration and teamwork with other education professionals; MS Office Suite.
Ability to: Maintain a strong and current background in education and administration; Assist in the development of long and short-range organizational goals and set appropriate educational priorities; Resolve conflict among parents and students; Appropriately handle confidential information in accordance with Network Support policies; Support student social and emotional development; Work collaboratively and professionally with the Larchmont Schools team; Use modern technology; Work on multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately; Communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively in both written and verbal form to all stakeholders; Recognize areas of concern and propose or recommend appropriate solutions to problems; Accept constructive criticism; Accept direction from supervisor.
Physical Requirements: Continual speaking; Standing & sitting frequently and for long periods; Reaching, walking, bending, grasping and pinching, occasional lifting and carrying, squatting, twisting or kneeling; Manual dexterity to use office equipment; Repetitive operation of a computer keyboard; Travel to/from Network Support Office, school buildings, classrooms, and grounds.
Environment: Uneven surfaces, noise, quick work pace. Requires that the incumbent work effectively under stressful situations and respond to the unpredictable behaviors of studentsfrequent use of computer screen. Occasionally involves working outdoors and exposure to inclement weather. Infrequently involves exposure to traffic congestion. It may rarely involve exposure to biohazardous waste.
