Overview
At Larimer County Human Services, we strive to provide responsive, timely services to our community so individuals and families are healthy, supported and safe. We are seeking a Data Analyst to join our team in support of this mission. You will work across all Human Services divisions to extract insight from data to help us improve business and program outcomes. You will work closely with departmental subject matter experts and other stakeholders to identify data and reporting needs, as well as opportunities to bring data into strategic decision-making. You will leverage your technical skills to combine and analyze complex datasets, write reports, identify trends, manage data quality and integrity, and produce data-centric deliverables and visualizations designed to provide business intelligence insights to Larimer County Human Services.
We would love to hear from you if you are excited about using data to derive insights that can improve the operations of Larimer County Human Services, and thus the positive outcomes we produce for our clients. You have a background in data analytics; you may also have a background in human services or local government. Ultimately, you have excellent analytical and technical skills, including the ability to quickly and accurately wrangle, analyze and interpret data, identify and define data integrity issues, and make recommendations for resolution.
This position will work remotely for a portion of work hours. To work remotely, qualified candidates must have access to reliable and stable internet.
Responsibilities
Specifically this position:
- Manages data collection, analysis, visualization, and communication of data insights to support organizational decision making and improve business and program outcomes.
- Works with individual units to identify new data-related needs or opportunities to bring data into strategic decision-making. When needed, provides training and support to stakeholders to ensure they are able to use existing data reporting tools and that their needs are being met.
- Works with stakeholders to define outcome measures and performance indicators, and provides clear, accurate, and timely data to stakeholders across Larimer County.
- Prepares data for analytic efforts by extracting, integrating and consolidating data; ensuring data quality and accuracy; profiling data inaccuracies and recommending process improvements or system changes to enhance the overall quality of the data; collaborating with stakeholders and source system owners to resolve data quality issues as appropriate; and cleaning and creating final dataset for analysis.
- Develops, enhances, and maintains reports and visualizations using BI tools such as Tableau and Crystal Reports.
- Develops complex SQL queries and stored procedures for data analysis, quality control and data integrity, and reporting datasets.

- Be highly organized and able to ensure requests for data analyses are met in a timely, accurate and consistent manner.
- Have knowledge of and experience using data analysis and visualization tools and programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Business Objects.
- Have knowledge of and experience with Databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, SAP HANA, or similar.
- Have experience building and maintaining ETL scripts (e.g. SSIS packages).
- Have a commitment to public service and an interest in serving the Larimer County community.
- Have familiarity with human services policies and workflows in child welfare, aging and adult services, and/or public benefits.
- Have familiarity with state data systems for child welfare, aging and adult services, and/or public benefits, such as TRAILS.
- Work well independently and in a team setting.
- Have strong attention to detail.
Qualifications
All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
- Three (3) years' experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field** required.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver's License required.
**Human services or a similar degree would be considered a related field.

Supplemental Information
Assessment testing will be administered.
An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. A successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.
