JOB SUMMARY:
The Offset Press Operator sets up, operates and maintains a 20” 6-color sheet-fed, offset press. The operator produces scheduled press work according to job specifications and company quality standards. Quality print production is achieved by measuring color density, proper registration of image and performing quality checks throughout press run.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work independently to produce scheduled press jobs efficiently and at high quality
- Reference work order for job specifications such as sizes, type of paper, ink colors and output quantity.
- Output appropriate plates from RIP on platemaker.
- Prepare the press by hanging imaged plates, change paper size/thickness for specified stock, set color keys for image and develop plates on press.
- Compare make-ready output vs digital approved proof, make adjustments of color density, blanket pressure, and chemistry to arrive at acceptable match to proof
- Monitor press output throughout print run to maintain registration, color balance/density as well as look for any print defects by pulling samples throughout print run. Maintain variables throughout print run including press chemistry, ink levels, blanket quality and powder/dryer output to assure high quality, error free print run.
- Perform preventative maintenance, minor repairs and troubleshoot technical issues with press chemistry and press mechanics. Work with company approved mechanics to make repairs outside of our internal abilities.
- Work collaboratively with project coordinators, prepress operators and bindery department to ensure quality output that efficiently moves through the shop and to our customer.
- Maintain a clean working environment
- Maintain consumable inventory in conjunction with COO.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The ability to lift up to 55 pounds with the average lifting on a daily basis being between 25 and 40 pounds. While performing duties of this job, you will be required to regularly stand, walk, climb stair, stoop, kneel and crouch. Specific vision requirements include close vision, color vision and ability to focus.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Communicate well and work effectively as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
· A minimum of 3-5 years experience operating 4 color sheet-fed offset press.
· Have a strong understanding of offset printing processes, color theory and color matching.
· Display orderly and systematic work habits and an eye for quality and accuracy.
· High school diploma or GED equivalent
SHIFT STRUCTURE / SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Overtime can be necessary and may happen without advanced notice. Depending on seasonal production spikes, shift times (start and stop) could change to accommodate production needs.
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
