About Our Organization
The mission of the Latin American Health Alliance (LAHA) is to identify and address the significant health disparities that exist for Latinos living in the greater Worcester area. LAHA advocates for the Latino Community; researches and responds to important social issues that affect the Worcester area Latino population. LAHA implements initiatives and programs that address identified service gaps and continually evaluate the efficacy of our programs based on participant feedback. LAHA is the only residential program providing culturally specific treatment for substance use disorder in the Worcester Community, we have been working for over 12 years to lessen health inequity in the Latinx community. Over the past 12 years we have provided medically based residential treatment for Latino men suffering from substance use disorder at Hector Reyes House (HRH). A significant gap was identified in safe, sober, affordable placement for the men leaving HRH so LAHA opened two transitional houses Casa, and Casa Mattie.
Hector Reyes House (HRH)
The Hector Reyes House is a new model of residential substance use treatment that provides services for 25 Latino men. The program offers in-house medical treatment, along with intensive cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. HRH addresses nationally recognized health care disparities, alleviates a shortage of treatment options for Latinos, offers training and employment options designed to promote recovery, and reduce the odds of relapse. Hector Reyes House is the only program of its kind in the region.
Position Summary
The Clinical Director at Hector Reyes House is primarily responsible for maintaining Clinical day-to-day operations, staff management, and achieving and maintaining compliance with Department of Health (DPH) and Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS) policies and regulations, both new and existing. Must be LICSW, LMHC or LADAC-1 licensed to practice in MA, in good standing. This work is complex in nature where sound judgment is required in resolving problems and making clinical and administrative recommendations.
Additionally, the Clinical Director works collaboratively with organizational executive management on ensuring that Hector Reyes House is operating within the mission and vision of LAHA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This position is considered an “essential employee” position meaning this role has been identified by LAHA as critical to maintaining the infrastructure and integrity of the program and the organization, as a whole. As a recovery program, HRH is deemed an essential business by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. All HRH staff are expected to report to work even in severe weather conditions and public health crisis’ such as the coronavirus pandemic.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Essential position with 40 hours required, on-site
- Supervise a team of counselors and case managers in the daily activities related to patient care
- Work with staff to develop and refine counseling and assessment skills (e.g., motivational interviewing, relapse prevention).
- Develop staff development/training program for evidence-based treatment of addictive behaviors
- Review and sign all counselors’ notes in resident charts, make recommendations and provide guidance to staff on maintaining appropriate clinical documentation.
- Assist program committee in identifying providers from the community who can help with the implementation of evidence based mental health interventions (e.g. groups, assessment) at HRH.
- Oversee Screening, Intakes, Referrals and Utilization Review
- Assist in the development and implementation of written policies and procedures that reflect the agency’s philosophy and objectives of delivering effective treatment services
- Ensure Individual Service Plans (ISP) are developed and implemented in compliance with the agency’s policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance of program with federal, state and local rules and regulations
- Ensure and monitor the supervision of clinical staff
- Assist the Program Director with the development and implementation of educational programs to address the needs of program staff
- Ensure the confidentiality of the patients
- Comply with the policies and procedures of the organization
- Complete assigned work in a timely fashion
- Adapt to new or unusual situations without affecting work
- Maintains a pleasant and professional attitude and appearance
- Performs other related duties as require
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Must be Bilingual Spanish speaking and writing capability required
- LICSW, LMHC, or LADC1 required with active MA license in good standing
- Must have a minimum of two years of clinical substance abuse treatment experience
- Must have a minimum of one year of supervisory experience
- Must have CORI-clearance according to EOHHS and LAHA policies.
- Must produce TB testing evidence upon hire and annually thereafter.
- Experience with motivational interviewing required
- Experience with medication assisted recovery required
- Experience with trauma informed care required
- Experience with Harm reduction required
- Possess cultural sensitivity and adaptability to various personalities and background
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
- Must be proactive, solutions-driven, and able to apply problem-solving techniques to a verity of situations
- Must be committed to guiding patients in creating their own recovery plan, rather than simply dictating outcomes and expectations
- Ability to recognize that one-size-fits-all approaches to recovery and treatment models do not exist, but that individuals require unique treatment models to achieve their recovery goals
- Must have a commitment to supporting Latino men with SUD, diversity, and social justice.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,921.00 - $70,000.00 per year
