Survey Chain Person/Chainman

The Survey Chain Person is an entry-level position and a great opportunity for individuals who express interest in land surveying. No previous experience is required. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience and training in a land surveying capacity.

Under the supervision of licensed land surveyors and experienced field technicians, the Survey Chain Person will perform work as a member of a survey crew in the field.

The candidate considered for this role is to be hardworking, team-oriented, and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. This position primarily works in the field so the ability to work outdoors under all weather conditions and terrains is required.

Responsibilities:

• Perform all types of surveys, including construction staking, ALTA/NSPS surveys and boundary and topographic surveys under the direction of a Survey Party Chief
• Data collection using a Trimble total station and controller or Trimble GPS
• Assist with maintenance of survey equipment and vehicles
• This is primarily a field position but may perform some office related duties, including data reduction, field note reduction, calculations or CAD system usage

Required Skills & Experience:

• Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50lbs. of surveying equipment
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
• Basic technical skills with the ability to learn and navigate operations systems such as Windows, Android, and Trimble Access

Not required but nice to have:

• Prior field or office experience in a land surveying capacity
• LSIT or LS certification

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
