Job Description

League School for Autism is an award-winning, year-round program dedicated to the education of children on the Autism Spectrum. Our team approach to education creates a collaborative, supportive and open environment within our community. We are currently seeking a BOARD CERTIFIED BEHAVIOR ANALYST (BCBA) for our program in Walpole to start immediately.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Special Education with current MA teaching certification in Moderate or Severe Special Needs; or a Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis or Psychology.
  • Current valid B.C.B.A. certification required.
  • Experience with autistic population and demonstrated interpersonal, supervisory and administrative skills.
  • Safety Care, CPR and First Aid certifications (training provided if necessary)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must pass CORI Background Check.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  1. Develops behavior intervention strategies and techniques for individual students with input from the classroom team, and reviews on a regular basis.
  2. Trains school/residential staff in the implementation of students’ individual behavior programs.
  3. Trains school/residential staff in various behavior models, such as Applied Behavior Analysis, Safety Care, etc.
  4. Provides home training to families: this may include after-school hours.
  5. Provides supervision to Behavior Specialist(s) assigned to their program, and completes evaluations as required.
  6. Monitors, collects and records data regarding student behavior programs on a daily basis. Prepares behavior data for presentation at various meetings, as needed.
  7. Provides necessary behavior intervention for students throughout the school and in the community. Implements student behavior programs: positive reinforcement, breaks, time outs, etc., as appropriate, for each individual student.
  8. Meets once a month with each League School for Autism residential house to provide training to staff and consultation on behavior approaches and programs for residential students.
  9. Develops a therapeutic and effective relationship with students: uses appropriate voice modulation, sets reasonable boundaries, communication and actions, etc.
  10. Completes paperwork, as needed, to include: Incident Reports, Accident Reports, and Behavior Summaries.
  11. Monitors health and safety of students and follows through with the School Nurse on incidents which require medical attention.
  12. Works as a team player. Attends supervision, staff meetings, classroom meetings, program meetings and annual review meetings, as assigned. Comes prepared with agenda and ready to discuss issues and solutions.
  13. For students in their program(s), communicates with Specialists, School Nurse, Residential Staff, and Administrators to effectively maintain the goals of the student.
  14. For students in their program(s), communicates with school districts, parents, clinicians, and other professionals outside of League to effectively maintain the goals of the student.
  15. For students in their program(s), establishes and maintains a good working relationship between the school and the student’s home. This may include: phone contact, notes to parents, parent observations, home visits, consultations, team meetings, etc.
  16. Conducts program meetings.
  17. Ensures that staff in their program(s) provide data to measure student progress.
  18. Performs other related duties, as designated by the Director of Clinical and Behavioral Services or Director of Education, that are deemed necessary for the operation of the school, such as evening trainings, Open House, etc.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Mail, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
