This position is located in our Pine Grove, Pennsylvania facility, which is approximately 30 minutes northeast of Harrisburg, the state capitol of Pennsylvania. Pine Grove also has easy access to both Baltimore and Philadelphia, both of which are about two and one-half hours from the facility. Our Pine Grove facility develops and manufactures a wide array of products for the Company's Specialty Products Group.

Position description: Manages the inventory control functions and provides support to production scheduling on all material flow issues to meet production schedules and customer requirements. Interfaces with product line coordinators on the planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet shipments. Analyzes sales and shipped from stock trends, makes recommendations for inventory levels and implements changes as decided by senior management Responsible for all aspects of the purchasing function including execution of the buy job, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of purchase orders to suppliers and oversees the PO acknowledgement process to ensure vendor on time delivery. Reviews inventory levels and sales forecasts to determine appropriate min/max levels and implements changes accordingly in the system. Expedites supplier POs as needed.

Position Requirements: Requires a strategic, goal driven individual with a background in Lean Manufacturing concepts and pull systems in a complex mix model/make to order environment. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Will be responsible for all aspects of inventory management; capacity planning; system and process management; working in conjunction with the procurement team to optimize materials management strategies and tactics, creates repeatable processes that can lead to sustainable inventory all while meeting customer delivery dates and shipment targets. Proven ability to assess and develop talent to create best in class materials team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate communication and understanding between marketing, engineering, and procurement team on plant capacity and capability as relates to customer demand.
  • Directly engage in SIOP process to ensure materials team is proactively managing planning efforts to meet customer OTD (on time delivery) requirements, while maintaining optimal inventory positions of days on hand.This includes understanding the impact of demand spikes, or decreased demand on internal capacity and consequences to inventory and delivery. Perform root cause problem resolution and analysis.
  • Provide expertise and direction to planners on use of proper tools (Kanban, order point, bin stock, etc.) to match various lead times of products/parts to meet customer commitments and minimize cost and inventory.Interface with procurement team on lead-time reduction for purchased parts, make vs. buy decisions, need for subcontracting, or raw material replenishment needs. Analyze consumption trends, plan complex and/or long-lead items, and drive material/Kanban set up for anticipated customer requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least five years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires a strong ability to work in a team environment, able to multi-task and have high level of PC skills, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be able to analyze data in Excel, develop recommendations accordingly and implement those changes.
  • The successful candidate ideally will be experienced in planning, coordinating, directing inventory and shipping programs to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards required by our customers.
  • Strong leadership and management skills are essential.
