What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Age Child Care Teacher position at Lebanon Valley Family YMCA?
This position is for kindergarten coverage, 11:30am-3:30pm, and potentially morning care from 6:30am -9am and/or afternoon care from 3pm-6pm.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and educational programs
- Assist with homework and provide tutoring as needed
- Maintain open and effective communication with parents/guardians
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the childcare facility
- Implement appropriate discipline techniques when necessary
- Collaborate with other childcare providers to create a positive and inclusive environment
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelors degree or 2500 hours experience working with children, preferably in a daycare or educational setting
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques
- First aid and CPR certification
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Passion for working with children and helping them learn and grow
