About Us:
Ledge Brewing Company is a small, independent craft brewery dedicated to brewing exceptional beers in a variety of styles. With an electric 3BBL brewhouse and a production volume of 250BBL per year, we pride ourselves on quality, customer service, and celebrating the natural world. We are seeking a skilled and passionate Head Brewer to direct and run the entire brewing process. Our current head brewer is leaving sometime around June 2025 and will provide training to the new brewer over the next few months.
Position Overview:
The Head Brewer will be responsible for all aspects of our brewing process, including planning, brewing, kegging, cleaning, and quality control. This is a hands-on, solo role where attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential. The ideal candidate will have extensive brewing knowledge, a passion for craft beer, and the ability to produce beers of exceptional quality across a wide range of styles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Brewing & Production: Manage and execute all brewing operations from start to finish.
- Planning & Scheduling: Coordinate brewing schedules to ensure timely production and meet customer demand. Order ingredients and supplies in a timely manner.
- Kegging & Packaging: Oversee kegging and packaging operations, ensuring beer is transferred, carbonated, and packaged efficiently and without contamination.
- Cleaning & Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized brewery environment. Ensure all equipment is properly sanitized and functioning. Perform regular maintenance on the brewhouse, fermenters, and other brewing equipment.
- Quality Control: Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure each batch meets our high standards for taste, appearance, and consistency.
- Inventory Management: Track raw materials and finished goods inventory, placing orders as needed.
- Innovation: Experiment with new recipes, styles, and techniques to continually improve and expand our beer offerings.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of professional brewing experience.
- Strong understanding of brewing science and quality control processes.
- Ability to independently manage a production schedule and execute multiple brewing tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality beer.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform manual labor as needed.
- Passion for craft beer and a deep knowledge of beer styles.
- Knowledge of yeast propagation and management.
