Duties and Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
- Manage and oversee all facility maintenance and construction operations across multiple County buildings.
- Lead multidisciplinary trade teams, including carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, flooring, pest control, warehouse, jail support, life safety, BAS, and office support.
- Interview, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and coach employees in alignment with County policies.
- Complete annual evaluations for maintenance supervisors and support their professional growth.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to plan work, coordinate activities, and review performance.
- Support the Facilities Asset Management Program, including preventive maintenance, lifecycle planning, and system replacement strategies.
- Develop, implement, and oversee preventive, periodic, and corrective maintenance programs.
- Perform inspections of construction, maintenance, and contracted work to ensure quality, safety, and compliance.
- Coordinate with internal departments, contractors, engineers, and regulatory agencies.
- Research and implement new technologies and methods to improve efficiency and operations.
- Lead the Safety Committee and ensure proper follow-up on incidents and corrective actions.
- Respond promptly to service requests and stakeholder concerns.
- Monitor work orders to ensure timely completion and adherence to service standards.
- Maintain facility maintenance software, including work orders, asset tracking, and cost monitoring.
- Develop scopes of work, specifications, and bid documents; coordinate with Procurement on solicitations and contract awards.
- Review cost estimates, negotiate with vendors, and verify invoices.
- Conduct facility condition assessments to identify short- and long-term needs.
- Provide technical guidance to staff, contractors, and County leadership.
- Support emergency response operations during storms, outages, and critical incidents.
- Serve as Acting Operations Manager when needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Licensing
Minimum Requirements
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
- Two years of experience in public works or a closely related field.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Supplemental Information
Work Schedule: Tuesday–Friday, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM, with availability after hours, on weekends, or on holidays as needed.
